EVOLUTION MASTER MODULE
The first module in the string of four is the “Master” control module. It is a communications and control platform designed for use with the PID and DIO modules (Slaves) of the Evolution system. The functions of the Master are:
Hierarchical Control Of Slave Modules— The Master module uses a proprietary high speed serial protocol to communicate, via backplane connection, to support the slave modules. Through the same connection, the Master also provides power to all modules.
Storage Of System Module Configuration Information—When powered up, the Master automatically identifies and addresses connected Slave modules. By storing the configuration information of all of the modules, the Master is able to automatically configure modules if they are ever replaced.
Driver List—A built-in driver list allows easy data mapping to most PLCs, PCs, and SCADA systems.
Communications—The Master provides high-speed RS232/422/485 communication ports and an Ethernet port for connection to PCs, PLCs, and SCADA systems. An extensive list of master and slave protocol drivers are available to allow the Master to share and exchange variable data with external devices. The 10 Base-T/100 Base- TX Ethernet port can also be used to connect and share data with other devices at high speeds.
Power—The Master module receives 24 VDC external power from its normal “safety extra-low voltage” (SELV) power supply or a battery source (normally as backup). The Master, in turn, provides power to slave modules through backplane connector.
